BOSTON PUBLIC: CHAPTER TWELVE (TV)
Summary
One in this series of dramas that explore the tempestuous relationships between the jaded administration and the precocious student body of a volatile public high school in Boston.
Rumors about Milton and Lisa's relationship are spreading throughout the school, and soon Principal Harper begins looking at Milton more closely. Meanwhile, a student named Tyronn Anderson is taken into Vice Principal Guber's office; Mr. Senate saved him from being beat up by a gang that morning and Guber believes Tyronn might be a witness to a gang-related murder that took place the night before. Tyronn denies having seen or heard anything about it. Mr. Riley attempts to get an overweight student named Christine Banks continue her stint on the wrestling team, but she is highly resistant to it and refuses to participate in an important upcoming match.
Mr. Senate argues with Tyronn in private; it turns out he is a member of the gang who beat him up. He says they did it because he was trying to get out of the gang. Lauren talks with an upset Christine, who reveals that her boyfriend Danny left her without any explanation. She believes it has to do with her wrestling, not helped by her new nickname, "Blob," which she feels has brought on more negative attention than positive. Milton tries to convince Riley to cover up his affair to Harper. Lauren and Riley argue about Christine's situation. Guber brings in a police detective to see Senate about Tyronn; the detective believes that Tyronn's attempt to get out of the gang is suspicious given the timing of the gang killing.
Riley lies to Harper, saying he doesn't know anything about the affair between Milton and Lisa. Lauren confronts Danny over breaking up with Christine. He claims he had issues with her athleticism and how it related to his self-esteem. Senate confronts Tyronn again and he admits that he was the one who shot the opposing gang member. According to Tyronn, they met at night in a vacant lot and the other guy opened fire at him, forcing Tyronn to retaliate. He makes Senate promise not to reveal this to anyone. Tyronn starts crying, saying he didn't want to kill anyone.
Guber meets with Lisa's parents about the rumors of her affair, telling them to keep an eye on Lisa. Riley continues to get on Christine's case about abandoning her commitment to the wrestling team. He tells her that if she leaves the team, the kids who make fun of her will have won. Milton tells Riley that he plans to end his relationship with Lisa that night. Riley threatens that if he doesn't, he'll expose the whole thing to Harper. Harper meets Christine in the hall and attempts to give her some perspective on her situation.
Lisa visits Milton and he tries to get them to end their relationship. She admits that she loves him but that she'll break off the relationship. She gets him to give her one last kiss, but that kiss soon leads to them getting sexual with each other. Lisa's father walks in on them. Stunned, he takes Lisa back home with him. He reports this to Guber and Harper and they discuss where they will go from there. Senate tries to convince Tyronn to turn himself in to the police, but he doesn't want to, adding that Senate "can't fix everything." Milton arrives at Guber's office and is tersely handed his resignation papers, unable to say anything in his defense. Meanwhile, Christine decides to wrestle after all and wins the match for her team. Upon her victory she makes a speech to the crowd politely asking them not to call her "Blob" anymore. Hearing this, the crowd starts chanting he real name instead.
Riley sees Guber and tries to explain some of the extenuating circumstances behind Milton's affair. Guber fires Riley for concealing his knowledge of the affair for the past few weeks. Senate peeks in on Tyronn at his choir practice. Lauren suspects that he is not telling her something, but he honors his promise to Tyronn and says nothing. Commercials deleted.
