LAVERNE & SHIRLEY: MURDER ON THE MOOSEJAW EXPRESS {PART 1 OF 2} (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about two young working women, following their humorous adventures from the 1950s through the 1960s.
In this episode, Laverne and Shirley prepare to take a train to Moosejaw, Canada, after winning a contest to be good-will ambassadors at the opening of a Shotz Brewery in Moosejaw. Their only disappointment is that Lenny and Squiggy will be accompanying them, as the boys' slogan won second place. Before departing, Frank insists that they take part in a DeFazio tradition: an annual Easter egg hunt in their apartment, with Edna busily snapping photos.
Once aboard the train, Laverne and Shirley are joined by Lenny and Squiggy, both of whom are costumed as detectives since they believe that mysteries always happen on such trips. After Squiggy disentangles himself from an older female passenger, the train takes off and a man stumbles into the girls' apartment, warning them to "beware of the bald man." He gives them a canister of film before keeling over with a knife in his back. After the girls bring a porter to their compartment, they find that the man's body has disappeared. When the angry porter leaves, they examine the film and see that it contains images of U.S. rocket ships. Just then, a bald conductor enters and gives them a scare.
Elsewhere on the train, Lenny and Squiggy's romantic moves on a pretty blonde passenger result in their being spurned. In the dining car, Laverne and Shirley are frightened to discover a surfeit of bald men, including an overly curious waiter and a randy elderly passenger, Colonel Kalaback. When the lights momentarily go out, Shirley screams upon finding that someone threw a knife at her, barely missing her throat. Returning to their compartment, Shirley tries to relax by drinking some complimentary cocoa. However, she quickly realizes that the cocoa was drugged and falls over. When Laverne returns with the porter, who is also bald, she finds Shirley's body has disappeared. Commercials deleted. Continues with B:63669.
