BEVERLY HILLS BUNTZ: TERRY AND THE PIRATES {UNAIRED EPISODE} (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy/drama series, a spin-off of "Hill Street Blues," following former Lieutenant Norman Buntz as he navigates a new career as a California private eye.

In this unaired episode, Buntz is hired by Hollywood talent agents to protect one of their star actresses, Stephanie Amens, from her volatile ex-con ex-boyfriend Val Morrissey. Tod Rothman, director of Stephanie's upcoming blockbuster "Ways to Save," begs her to cooperate with Buntz and abandon her troublemaking on-and-off lover. Elsewhere, Sid is overjoyed to be entrusted with a Rolls-Royce belonging to Aaron Spelling, but he panics when an elderly woman rear-ends him, leaving a small dent. Val shows up and tries to apologize to Stephanie, angrily telling Buntz that her agents and director are the ones taking advantage of her, but Buntz shoos him away.

Buntz tries to reason with Stephanie, telling her to treat Val "like a grown-up" and force him to accept their breakup; elsewhere, Sid gets into a heated disagreement with a mechanic over the speedy repair job. Later, he delivers the car to its owner and eagerly describes his elaborate idea for a "Dynasty" plot involving villainous catfish – only to discover that it is a different Aaron Spelling, one who is not at all involved in show business. Stephanie assures Buntz that Val now "understands" the situation, but he bursts into Stephanie's home with a gun and demands that she run away with him, forcing Buntz to shoot him dead. The agents decide to use the dramatic event for publicity, much to Buntz's annoyance; he admits to Sid that he had not discharged his weapon since leaving the police force. Sid, still disappointed about his would-be "big break," takes his partner out for a bite. Commercials deleted.
