WKRP IN CINCINNATI: JENNIFER'S HOME FOR CHRISTMAS (TV)
Summary
One in this series of comedy programs about the staff of a small radio station in Cincinnati. It’s Christmastime in Cincinnati, and everyone is making plans for Christmas. Most are preparing to travel home to see their families, but Jennifer is reluctant to discuss her own Christmas plans, mentioning that she doesn’t have a tree this year. She tries to raise cheer around the station by getting everyone gifts, contrary to their promise not to exchange gifts. Thus, they feel guilty and rush out to get gifts. At the station’s Christmas party, everyone except Jennifer is trying to hurry along the proceedings so they can get on with their Christmas plans. Jennifer is upset at their callous attitude and walks off. The others speculate that since Jennifer wasn’t planning to go home this Christmas, the party was all she had. Later, Jennifer visits Venus as he hosts the evening Christmas show. They reminisce about the Christmases of their childhoods. Jennifer is still evasive about discussing her Christmas plans. Worried that Jennifer could be spending Christmas alone, Venus gives John a call. Jennifer receives a mountain of gifts in her apartment from her many admirers. Venus and John arrive, bringing a Christmas tree with them. However, Andy arrives bringing his own tree and gets into an argument about whose tree is better. More soon arrive, including a Frenchman bearing a gift for Jennifer, Mr. Carlson and Bailey bringing their own tree, Herb with a mistletoe, and Les. Jennifer is touched by their arrival and concern, but informs them she does have a plan this Christmas: she’s being flown out to Bethlehem by an admiral friend of hers’. She didn’t tell the others because she thought they wouldn’t believe her. Soon everyone starts packing up to leave, until only Jennifer and Herb are left. She asks him to hold his mistletoe above his head and kisses him before leaving. The episode ends as Herb, somewhat dumbstruck, turns out the lights and leaves. Commercials deleted.
