CHEERS: UNCLE SAM WANTS YOU {SEASON NINE FINALE} (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series about a group of regulars at a Boston bar.

Rebecca starts going on job interviews, hoping to secure a position as an executive. However, her confidence is unstable, causing her to become nervous easily. Frasier and Lilith become concerned at Sam's steadily growing presence in their home, as he has become quite attached to Frederick and enjoys spending time with him. Frasier believes Sam is doing it out of an unspoken need to have children of his own. Frasier becomes outraged when it becomes apparent that Frederick likes Sam better than him. They convince Sam that they need time alone as a family, and Sam feels bad for intruding on them. Each day Rebecca returns from her interviews, unintentionally sabotaging each one through her nervousness and clumsiness. Carla talks to Sam about his growing desire to have a child, and she offers some perspective on the subject from her experiences with her children. She discusses the challenges and fears that accompany being a parent, but despite all of that Sam still wants a child. He starts trying to determine who the mother will be, although he is unsure of how to proceed and realizes he can't be blunt about such a topic.

Frasier drops off Frederick at Cheers so that Sam can babysit him. That night as Sam dozes off while staying up with Frederick and dreams that Elvis Presley is speaking to him through the bar's television set. Elvis tells him that he has overlooked Rebecca as a possible mother for his child, that they've grown very close and become good friends. Frasier picks up Frederick and Rebecca comes in soon afterwards to close up. She laments her lack of success at her interviews and says she is rethinking her ambition to become a corporate executive, and that she may want to start a family. Sam, seeing an opportunity, brings up the possibility of the two of them having a child together. At first she does not take the idea seriously, but upon reflection comes to believe that they could make it work. She becomes so excited at the prospect of being a mother that she does not notice when her dress gets ripped off as she runs out of the bar. Commercials deleted.
