EIGHT {8} SIMPLE RULES FOR DATING MY TEENAGE DAUGHTER: TRICK OR TREEHOUSE (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about Paul Hennessy's angst-ridden life as a father to two teenage daughters.
The Hennessy family prepares for Halloween, and the kids are making plans of their own: Bridget plans to attend a Halloween party with Kyle, Kerry plans to watch scary movies with her friend, and Rory is to go trick-or-treating with Paul. Paul is planning the family’s annual Halloween campout in their treehouse; the kids are unenthusiastic about the idea. Secretly Rory feels he’s too old to be trick-or-treating with his father, and eventually the kids work up the nerve to tell Paul that they don’t want to participate in his Halloween traditions. However, they are unable to change his mind and he insists on going into the treehouse that night anyway. Paul talks to Tommy about his frustrations that his family traditions seem to be dissipating. Tommy warns Paul that the party Bridget plans to attend will have no parental supervision, worrying Paul immensely. He confronts Bridget over this and they argue. When Kerry acts disrespectful towards him and he discovers that Rory is planning to go out on his own on Halloween and prank people, Paul decides to ground all of his kids, much to their discontent. He also prevents Kyle from sneaking in to see Bridget.
Cate returns home and Paul talks with the family, pleading with them to spend one last night with him in the treehouse before they become too old for the tradition. They reluctantly agree and Paul tries to get everyone to enjoy themselves, but they soon become frustrated and the kids leave. Paul and Cate reminisce about the memories they’ve had in the treehouse, interrupted by the arrival of Kyle, believing that Bridget is inside. They go inside as a terrible thunderstorm starts up. Cate tells Paul that he cannot force the children to spend time with him, and that while they may have some animosity towards him at the moment, they will grow out of it. Rory enters, frightened by the lightning, and climbs into bed with them. Bridget and Kerry enter as well when the storms knocks out their power. The family spends time together and genuinely enjoy themselves, curling up for one of Paul’s ghost stories. Includes commercials.
