DREW CAREY SHOW, THE: TURKEYSPOTTING (TV)
Summary
One in this series of comedies starring stand-up comedian Drew Carey as a single guy who attempts to juggle his romantic endeavors and his menial job at a Cleveland department store, while still maintaining his sense of humor. Larry tries to set up Drew with dates via his dating service, but it doesn't seem to work. He is hosting a party for singles looking to find potential marriage partners in two weeks, but he advises Drew not to go. He claims that Drew's weight will present a problem for the other attendees, so Drew decides to try to lose a great deal of weight before the party. After a week of dieting, Drew's weight remains unchanged and he starts getting desperate. Mimi mocks Drew's efforts, claiming that attractiveness has nothing to do with weight. Drew's diet has made him irritable and consumed by the temptation to eat unhealthy food. The night of the party arrives and Drew, having lost some weight, decides to try his luck. However, he is suffering from hunger-induced hallucinations of a roast turkey beckoning him to eat it. At the party Drew convinces Larry to let him enter and he starts trying to introduce himself to women there. However, he gets mesmerized by the food on display and has difficulty maintaining his composure. Finally he suffers an elaborate hallucination featuring turkeys performing dance routines and he snaps, forcing Larry to escort him out of the party. Drew returns home and eats some soup to rid himself of his hallucinations. Drew, feeling hopeless, contemplates calling off the wedding. Lewis and Oswald remind him of his desire to get married and convince him to continue attempting to find a bride. Includes commercials.
