GEORGE LOPEZ: A CLEAR AND PRESENTLESS DANGER (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series, set in Los Angeles, in which comedian George Lopez plays family man "George Lopez." In this episode, Angie encourages the family to find items to donate for a Christmastime charity drive, though Max and Carmen are far more interested in receiving than in giving. Annoyed at their entitled attitudes, George declares that they will receive only one present each in order to learn a valuable lesson about Christmas, and Angie suggests that they do a Secret Santa to make things more interesting. Benny, who picked Angie's name, switches with Vic, and Vic takes over tree-decorating duties and places his "Freedom Angel" at the top, annoying George with yet another "dumb Cuban story." George tells a dejected Max that the one-present rule is for his own good, but he is taken aback when Max reveals that he pulled George's name out of the hat and bought him something extra-nice to make up for his disappointing childhood Christmases.
Feeling that he "went too far" in teaching his kids a lesson, George tries to switch with Benny, who now has Max as her Secret Santa, sure that she will buy him a lackluster present. Benny refuses, however, declaring that she has found something nice for her grandson. After transforming Vic's nutcracker into Castro, George recruits Ernie's help in buying a paintball gun for Max, though Angie tells him that Benny will be humiliated if he one-ups her gift. On Christmas morning, George tries out the paintball gun and accidentally destroys Benny's gift for Max, which turns out to be impressive after all: an autograph from BMX star Dave Mirra. Ashamed, George tries to make amends with an angry Benny, and when Benny reveals that she spent her entire Christmas bonus on the gift, George realizes that her "little Grinch heart grew today" and she is trying to atone for his own bad holidays. He then surprises her with her own gift: a paid-in-full bar tab. Back at home, Max sincerely thanks his grandmother for his present, and he is thrilled when Mirra himself arrives to re-sign the autograph for the needy "orphan." Includes commercials and promos.
