EXTRAS: DANIEL RADCLIFFE (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy about wannabe actors trying to find fame while employed as extras. In this episode, Darren asks Andy if he wants to do a three-day gig with Daniel Radcliffe on his new fantasy film. On the set, Andy meets Warwick Davis, who’s playing a wood elf, along with Warwick’s leggy fiancée, Claire. Darren then insults Warwick by asking if a midget has to buy children’s clothes. Later, Daniel puts romantic moves on every female on the set, including Maggie. When Daniel’s mother arrives, the young actor blames Maggie for trying to seduce him. At lunch, Daniel joins Andy and Maggie, and tells her that his offer for a rendezvous still stands. When Daniel plays around with a condom at the eatery, it ends up on the head of Daniel’s disgruntled co-star, Diana Rigg. Back on set, Maggie puts her foot in her mouth when complimenting Claire on her choice of a “small” fiancé. At dinner that night, Andy gets into an altercation with a fellow patron who’s dining with her noisy son, though Andy doesn’t realize that the boy has Down Syndrome. The next day, a reporter asks Andy if he’s prejudiced against those with special needs, which leads to a vitriolic newspaper article. The situation escalates as television stations further exacerbate the story. The situation worsens when Darren fails to defend Andy on live TV. Later, on the set of “When the Whistle Blows,” Andy presents the boy and his mother with an Xbox, then hears Darren say that half of his earnings for participating in Daniel’s fim will be given to charity. Back on Daniel’s set, the young actor “ends things” with Maggie. Finally, Warwick confronts Daniel for trying to steal his fiancée. When Andy intercedes, Warwick turns his fury on Andy. Andy generates another scandal when he knocks out Warwick in self-defense. Andy is subsequently kicked off the set, though he still has to pay the charity for the amount he would have earned.
