DIRTY SEXY MONEY: THE LIONS (TV)
Summary
On in this drama series about a troubled lawyer whose life is overtaken by his employers: a super-rich, morally-challenged family in New York City. In this episode, Nick prepares for another day with the Darlings, though Lisa reminds him that the family is taking advantage of his services, as they did with his father. Nick, however, is still determined to find out the truth about his father's death. Tish informs Karen that her latest husband Freddy cannot be in Patrick's upcoming senate campaign photoshoot, those elsewhere Patrick is more concerned with telling his parents the truth about his transsexual girlfriend, Carmelita. Juliet refuses to leave her hotel and declares herself independent from the family, and she tasks Jeremy with finding out who is occupying the penthouse. Nick meets with Tripp, who asks him to "hang around" the upcoming photoshoot, then casually giving him a large amount of cash for unspecified expenses. Daisy continues trying to open Dutch's briefcase, and Nick finds that Brian has dropped his illegitimate son at the office, still refusing to tell his wife and kids the truth about him. Nick then meets with Norman Exley, the plane technician, and demands to know why Brian gave him so much money, suspecting that it was payment for sabotaging Dutch's plane. However, Norman admits that he found out about Brian Jr. and was blackmailing the reverend for cash, adding that he often saw Dutch and Tish together.
Jeremy discovers that the penthouse is occupied by Natalie Kimpton, Juliet former best friend, and soon finds himself unable to resist her romantic advances. Patrick firmly tells his father that he is not interested in running for Senate, but Tripp suspects that he is merely worried about "some things coming to light" and urges him to "make history" anyway. Lisa is exasperated when Nick brings Brian Jr. home, still unable to reach his mother, and Karen calls to task Nick with ousting Freddy from the photoshoot. Tish argues with Tripp about Patrick's proposed Senate bid and his personal "issues," accidentally referring to Dutch as "family." Jeremy lies to Juliet about the penthouse and then urges her to come home, pointing out that Tripp is footing the bill for the hotel anyway. Tish admits to Nick that Dutch was her "great love," adding that if Tripp knew about the affair and was angry enough about it to kill, the truth will be in his journal. Nick then learns that he must secure insurance for the live lions at the photoshoot, and when Maria catches him stealing Tripp's journal, he pays her $500 to keep quiet. He finds that Tripp sketched a downed plane and scratched out some unknown words on the day of Dutch's death and ponders what it could all mean.
Nick then learns that Brian Jr.'s mother has fled to Brazil, though Brian still refuses to openly acknowledge the boy. At the photoshoot, Nick finally tells Freddy that he cannot be included, and Freddy accuses him of acting out of jealousy over Karen. Everyone is baffled when a Juliet lookalike, hired by Daisy, appears in her place, and Brian tells his family that his son is actually a Swedish orphan for whom he is caring. When Tripp discovers his journal missing, Nick admits that he took it because of his suspicions about Dutch's death. Tripp is offended at the accusation, as Dutch was his best friend, and Tish is relieved when he still appears ignorant of the affair. Brian somewhat reconsiders his position on his son after some stern words from Nick, and Juliet angrily scolds Jeremy for lying to her about Natalie. Patrick is surprised when Carmelita urges him to run for office after all, suggesting that he can surpass his father's greatness. Karen calls Nick and admits that she still has love for him, and Jeremy continues seeing Natalie despite his promise to his twin. Patrick announces his candidacy on television, and Tripp correctly guesses that Dutch's briefcase combination is Tish's birthday, revealing to Nick that he actually did know about the affair all along. Inside the briefcase are some questionable documents about billionaire Simon Elder, and Tripp suggests that he is now a viable suspect in Dutch's death. Includes commercials and promos.
