SAMANTHA WHO?: THE VIRGIN (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about a woman who tries to become a better person after suffering from amnesia.
Sam goes out to a bar with Andrea, who fends off a barfly hitting on Sam. Sam realizes that she has no memory of any of her sexual experiences, distressing her immensely. She tries to speak to her parents about it, but they are uncomfortable talking about it since Sam never discussed her sex life with them. She tries to speak with Andrea and Dena, and contemplates waiting for “the right guy” with whom to have sex with, although she is eager to experience it again. She asks Todd if they’ve had sex before, explaining that she doesn’t recall any of their sexual encounters. She leaves when he says that it was “very good,” but this does little to ease her mind, as she starts to think about sex constantly. Soon Sam becomes neurotic about the whole affair, calling Andrea in the middle of the night about it. Her mother reveals that she read Sam’s diary and informs her that she lost her virginity at the age of 17.
Andrea takes her out the following night, coaching her on how to get picked up at a bar. Sam doesn’t feel comfortable with the exercise but Andrea tries to encourage her to see it through. Dena arrives and tries to help Sam as well, although their efforts run into a stumbling block when Regina enters the bar. She feels bad for Sam and wants to help her find someone to have sex with. Everyone has different opinions over who she should choose as a partner and Sam soon becomes frustrated and chooses a guy, Jason, to make out with in the middle of the bar. Jason takes her back to his apartment, although both of them feel awkward about actually having sex. She learns that Jason is a virgin and wants to back out, believing that she wouldn’t be suitable as Jason’s first sexual partner. While explaining her reasoning to him, she recalls her first time having sex with Todd; he only agreed to it when she noted she would reciprocate his feelings for her. She suddenly leaves, deciding that Todd is “the right guy” for her after all, and visits Todd at his apartment. Before she can ask him to have sex with her again, she is interrupted by the arrival of Todd’s new girlfriend Julia. Sam cannot disguise her jealousy over Todd’s new relationship and abruptly leaves. She returns home and reaches an understanding with her mother, who agrees with her that she should save herself for the right person. Includes commercials.
