Continued from R88:0270. Part two of five. One in this jazz music series spotlighting American musicians from the early masters of the 1920s to contemporary performers. Host Ed Beach provides commentary on the artists' works and presents contrasting versions of certain musical pieces. This program profiles the music of "all-time great trumpet star" and vocalist Louis Armstrong. Armstrong's music is featured on the following recordings: An excerpt from "Don't Get Around Much Anymore" and "Top Hat, White Tie and Tails" (1959), with Russ Garcia and his Orchestra; "Do Nothin' Till You Hear From Me," "I'm Beginning to See the Light," and "I'm Just a Lucky So and So" (1961), with Armstrong's All Stars and Duke Ellington on piano; "I Ain't Got Nobody" (1959), with the All Stars; "Hotter Than That" (1927), with Armstrong and his Hot Five; "Basin Street Blues," featuring a 1933 version with Armstrong and his Orchestra and a 1954 version by Armstrong's All Stars; and "That's When I'll Come Back to You" (1927) and "A Monday Date" (1938), with the Hot Seven.
