Summary
One in this dramas series that features movie stars in adaptations of films. In this program, Humphrey Bogart, Mary Astor, Sydney Greenstreet, and Peter Lorre reprise their film roles in "The Maltese Falcon." The story concerns private detective Sam Spade, who is hired by a woman calling herself Miss Wunderly to trail a man named Thursby. After Spade's partner is killed on the job, Spade learns Miss Wunderly's real identity -- Brigid O'Shaughnessy -- and her real objective, the "black bird." Also involved in the search for the valuable "Maltese falcon" are the trollish Joel Cairo and Gutman, known as "the Fat Man." While trying to get to the bottom of the case, Spade must avoid being double-crossed by his rivals and resist being influenced by his feelings for Brigid. Includes a commercial, two promos, and a public service announcement. (This series also aired under various titles on other networks from 1948 to 1951.)
