Continued from R90:0061. Part two of four. One in this series of music/interview programs. Hosted by William B. Williams and broadcast from the Cocktail Terrace of the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City, this part features interviews with actors Kitty Carlisle Hart and Allan Jones, Hart's co-star in the Marx Brothers's film "A Night at the Opera." After a brief newscast, Kay Starr's recording of "Bonaparte's Retreat" plays. Williams interviews Hart, who discusses her work with the New York State Council on the Arts; her work in "A Night at the Opera" and her impression of the individual Marx brothers; the rebirth of the Kaufman-Astoria studios; and Woody Allen's admiration for her husband, playwright Moss Hart. A recording of Allan Jones's "Alone," from "A Night at the Opera" plays, followed by Williams's interview with Jones, who talks about the making of the film. Other topics discussed include producer Irving Thalberg's tour of California movie houses with Jones and the Marx Brothers, to preview sketches from the film; the debate over the inclusion of the song "Alone" in the film; Jones's sons, Jack, a singer, and Ted, a writer and yachtsman; and Jones's current career. Includes a promo for "Love Line," WNEW-AM radio's free Valentine's Day message service, a public service announcement for a Parents of Asthmatic Children meeting, and commercials for the Russian Tea Room, Flemington Fur Co., Somerset limousine, Royal Silk, Purex cleaning products, Macy's, Sear's Roebuck and Co., K.
