Summary
One in this series of talk/variety shows hosted by Jack Paar. On this program, Paar's guests are television personality Hugh Downs, comedienne Dody Goodman, musical stage star Sally Ann Howes, and comedian Godfrey Cambridge. Highlights of this program include the following: Paar opens with a monologue; Sally Ann Howes, who just opened on Broadway in the musical "What Makes Sammy Run?" sings "Something to Live For" from that show; comedian Godfrey Cambridge performs his civil-rights routine about moving into a new neighborhood, at Morgan State College in Baltimore; Paar gives a fond introduction for Hugh Downs, the host of "The Today Show"; the two reminisce about when they were on the air together doing "The Tonight Show"; Downs recalls all the failed attempts to make the live commercials work; Dody Goodman joins Paar and Downs and talks about the first time she was on "The Tonight Show," a book she is reading about sex and the single girl, and the disasterous blind dates she has had; and Paar shows some bloopers that Downs was involved in while they were advertising products on the air. The program concludes with previews of next week's show. Includes commercials and public service announcements. (This is a black-and-white copy of a color telecast.
