MOLLY'S PILGRIM (TV)
Summary
This drama concerns Molly, a Jewish girl from the Soviet Union who has recently moved with her parents to the United States. Molly finds that fitting in with her classmates can be difficult: the girls in her class make fun of the way she talks, dresses, and eats. When Molly has to make a Thanksgiving pilgrim doll for homework, she begins making one that resembles the pictures in her history book. However, Molly cannot complete the doll before bedtime, and her mother finishes it for her. The next morning, Molly is dismayed to find that her pilgrim is wearing traditional Russian clothing. Her mother explains that she dressed the doll as a Russian since their family is a group of pilgrims, having come to the United States to find freedom. When the teacher sees the doll, she thinks that Molly has misunderstood the assignment. But Molly ends up teaching the class about the real meaning of the word pilgrim.
