
CAROL BURNETT SHOW, THE {DICK VAN DYKE, TONY RANDALL} (TV)
Summary
One in this series of comedy/variety programs starring Carol Burnett. In this episode, Burnett talks about the recent plot developments on "All My Children," what she wanted to be when she was a little girl, and how a fan recently was upset with her sloppy autograph. In the opening sketch, guest Dick Van Dyke plays Smiley Rogers, encyclopedia salesman who is inadvertently used by a couple to salvage their marriage. Next, guest Tony Randall tells a "loose and lascivious" tale in the musical number, "Madeira, M'Dear." In the next sketch, Van Dyke and Randall argue over the value of ten bucks. Then, in a sketch, Van Dyke plays a singing scuba teacher, performing the song, "Ballin' the Jack" In the next sketch, Burnett and Randall play a married couple that get in a fight after she forgets their hand signals to avoid "special couples" at a party. Then, Harvey Korman and Vicki Lawrence join the rest of the cast to perform a mini-musical built around the lyrics of Ira Gershwin. Burnett ends the show with her trademark song, "I'm So Glad We Had This Time Together." Includes commercials.
