MAGNUM, P.I.: FLASHBACK (TV)
Summary
One in this detective series set in Hawaii, starring Tom Selleck as Thomas Magnum, a former naval officer turned private investigator. In this episode, Magnum wakes up and finds himself in the past. It is the 1930s, yet Magnum is still living at Robin Master's estate with Higgins while Rick operates a nearby club. Assuming that the whole thing is a dream, the private investigator decides to accept and enjoy his situation. He is hired by a young woman named Brenda to exonerate her father, a union leader, of the murder of wealthy industrialist Taft Danforth. Magnum surprises himself by knowing all of the details of the case before Brenda explains it to him. While tracking down leads, Magnum runs into T.C., who does not recognize him. The two go to an exclusive club, where Magnum discovers Danforth's son, Drew, harassing a singer named Marisa. The chanteuse explains that Danforth was murdered to prevent him from divorcing his wife and marrying her. Marisa also informs Magnum that there are letters hidden in the Danforth cottage to prove her contention. Magnum goes to the cottage, where he is caught by Drew, who chases him out onto a cliff and shoots him. As Magnum plummets toward the sea, he awakens and finds himself back in the 1980s. Slowly, he remembers that he had been attempting to clear the name of a young woman's grandfather -- a man executed for the murder of Taft Danforth. Magnum meets Drew Danforth at his father's cottage and the dream starts to play itself out in reality. Commercials deleted.
