Summary
One in this series of variety programs presided over by
Ed Sullivan. Highlights of this program include the
following: Jackie Gleason appears as the Poor Soul, who
arrives in a crowded movie theater with his girlfriend
and has great difficulty finding a seat; Pearl Bailey
sings "Nothin'" and "Toot, Toot, Tootsie"; Gleason, Art
Carney, and Pert Kelton appear in a "Honeymooners"
sketch in which Ralph and Alice Kramden get into a fight
as they prepare to go out to a formal dance; Sullivan
interviews a group of midgets from Nate Eagle's troupe
appearing with the Ringling Brothers Circus, and they
are joined by giant-sized Englishman Ted Evans at the
end of the segment; Linon, a comic high wire artist from
France, performs a routine as a tramp attempting to
climb a ladder; Gleason appears as Fenwick Babbitt, a
contestant on "Can You Do This?" a quiz show hosted by
Carney in which Babbitt is asked to perform increasingly
complicated stunts for cash prizes; and Italian tenor
Luciano Tajoli sings a Neapolitan song in Italian and
English. Includes commercials.
