THIS IS AMERICA, CHARLIE BROWN: THE NASA SPACE STATION (TV)
Summary
One in this eight-part miniseries which stars the "Peanuts" characters as they are transported into the past and future to participate in various events in American history. In this episode, the fourth of eight, Linus dreams that he is a scientist on the NASA space station when he is assigned to prepare a model of a space station for school. Television reporter Jason Welker conducts interviews with the "Peanuts" gang as they perform their jobs on the station. Lucy Van Pelt is chosen as the commander, Snoopy is the station operator, Linus Van Pelt is a scientist, Peppermint Patty is exercise chief, Charlie Brown is the cook and photographer, Sally Brown is a scientist, Pig Pen conducts extravehicular experiments, and Franklin is a social scientist who observes the crew. In an interview with Welker, Lucy explains that the station is built in separate compartments so that it can be repaired easily in case of damage. In a tour, she demonstrates both the habitation and laboratory modules, explaining how the astronauts eat, sleep, and exercise. Woodstock helps Linus perform an experiment with zero gravity in the laboratory module. When a meteorite damages one of the solar panels outside the station, Charlie Brown and Snoopy perform a space walk in order to fix it. The two have a successful mission, and the crew prepares to leave the station after the ninety-day assignment. The gang members look down at the earth and discuss the need to keep the planet unspoiled. Linus awakens from his dream when Lucy tells him that she has thrown his blanket out the hatch. At school the next morning, Linus has competition against his space-station model. Commercials deleted.
