STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION: REDEMPTION, PART 2 {FIFTH SEASON PREMIERE} (TV)

Summary

Continued from T:28086. Part two of two. The fifth season premiere in this series of science fiction programs about the voyages of the U.S.S. Enterprise in the 24th century. This sequel to the original "Star Trek" series is set approximately 85 years after the journeys of the first Enterprise crew. In the first episode of the fifth season, Lt. Worf is torn between his human upbringing and his Klingon roots, and he decides to fight in the Klingon civil war with his brother, Kurn, by supporting Gowron, leader of the Klingon High Council, and battling the powerful Duras family. Intent on upholding the Federation's policy of nonintervention, Picard nonetheless develops a legal way to assist by organizing a blockade of Starfleet ships to stop the Romulan supply of arms to the Duras faction. Lt. Cmdr. Data is assigned as captain of a blockade ship, and he struggles with the resentful Lt. Cmdr. Christopher Hobson, who refuses to follow his orders. As the blockade takes its position, Picard is shocked when he is confronted by Romulan Commander Sela, who resembles deceased crew member Lt. Tasha Yar and claims to be her daughter. Though Picard is convinced that the resemblance is a Romulan trick, Guinan forces him to face the possibility that Sela's presence may be his own fault. Sela, intent on proving that she has denied her human bloodline, focuses on defeating Picard through the fleet's weakest link: their android captain's ship. Commercials deleted.
