JEEVES AND WOOSTER: CYRIL AND THE BROADWAY MUSICAL (OR, INTRODUCTION ON BROADWAY) (TV)
Summary
One in this series of comedies adapted from the humorous stories of P.G. Wodehouse. These farces, set in 1920s England, concern the relationship between a hopeless young twit named Wooster and his helpful elder valet Jeeves. In this episode, Wooster volunteers to help an artist friend, Corky, convince his uncle that he has chosen the right girl to marry. Corky is concerned that he may lose his inheritance if his uncle does not approve of the young lady whom he wishes to wed. Unfortunately, the plan of action that Jeeves implements not only causes the engagement to be broken off, but also causes Corky's allowance to be chopped in half. Meanwhile, Aunt Agatha has sent a young man, Cyril, to America for Wooster to look after. Unbeknownst to Wooster, Cyril is supposed to be kept away from theatrical circles. Wooster, of course, winds up helping Cyril get a part in a touring musical that lands in a Broadway theater which coincidentally the infamous Aunt Agatha will attend. Luckily, Jeeves comes up with a plan to stop Cyril from going on stage and also finds a way to compensate Corky for what he has lost. Commercials deleted.
