MISTER ROGERS' NEIGHBORHOOD: MISTER ROGERS TALKS ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT {RECYCLING CENTER} (TV)
Summary
One in this series of programs for young children, hosted by Fred Rogers, which uses puppets and music to teach patience and cooperation, while providing guidance to help children cope with feelings and frustrations. This episode is part of a week-long series about the environment. Mister Rogers discusses the benefits of recycling and, with Mr. McFeely's help, he separates his garbage into different containers for bottles and cans. Then Rogers takes a trip to the A and Z Recycling Center, where the bottles and cans are weighed, and Bob Lilley provides a tour of the recycling facility. Next, Rogers imagines the latest developments in the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, where hand-puppet characters interact with humans in the mythical kingdom of King Friday XIII. The garbage dump in the Neighborhood is filled to the rim with debris and King Friday assigns Lady Aberlin the task of finding a solution. Additionally, Mister Rogers plays with building blocks made of recycled wood; sings "I Like to Take Care of You"; and discusses the importance of taking care of yourself as well as others. This program is closed-captioned.
