DOONESBURY SPECIAL, THE (TV)
Summary
An animated special based on the comic strip created by Garry Trudeau. In this program, Zonker, Mike, Mark, Joanie, B.D., and Boopsie, a group of aging hippies who live in a commune in the wilderness, attempt to decide if it is time to move on with their lives and into condominiums. The group of friends recall the following experiences from their lives during the 1960s: a peace demonstration at which demonstrators clashed with the National Guard, and a football game where B.D. found himself arguing with his teammates, who seemed more interested in discussing philosophical questions than playing the game at hand. Next, Joanie explains that she feels it is important to concentrate on the future rather than the past as she tells her fellow commune dwellers about her experiences working at the Walden Day Care Center, which includes a rock Christmas pageant. In the end, Mike discusses the "revolution" with a child, who gives her own view of what the 60s were all about. In addition, Jimmy Thuddpucker sings "Stop in the Middle" and "I Do Believe." Commercials deleted.
