NYPD BLUE: TRIALS & TRIBULATIONS {SECOND SEASON PREMIERE} (TV)
Summary
The second season premiere in this series of rough-edged police dramas about the cases and private lives of the detectives and station house personnel of a Manhattan precinct. In this episode, Detective Kelly risks his job when he plans to testify on behalf of Officer Licalsi, who is facing charges for a double homicide. Kelly is questioned about whether he surpressed evidence against Licalsi because of their intimate relationship. Meanwhile, a battered wife tells Detective Sipowicz that she will not press charges against her husband, who is soon to be released from prison. Video surveillance is set up on a drug dealer's apartment in order to catch thieves who have knocked-off other apartments. Sipowicz wishes to ask Costas out on another date but needs permission from his Alcoholics Anonymous sponsor. Licalsi wants to plea bargain because she's afraid of what might happen to Kelly, but he refuses to let her do that. Sipowicz threatens the abusive husband upon his release from prison and finally gets approval from his sponsor to ask Costas out. While Sipowicz and Kelly are watching the surveillance video, two cops enter the apartment and rob the dealer. Includes commercials, promos, and a public service announcement.
