PICKET FENCES: FRANK THE POTATO MAN (TV)
Summary
One in this series of off-beat dramas that focuses on social issues as it chronicles the lives of Rome, Wisconsin, residents, including town Sheriff Jimmy Brock; his wife Dr. Jill Brock; their three children, Kimberly, Matthew, and Zachary; and his two deputies, Kenny Lacos and Maxine Stewart. In this episode, the police officers of Rome search for a serial bather, who breaks into people's homes to bathe. Deputies Maxine Stewart and Kenny Lacos begin to suspect Frank the Potato Man, a poor man living on the outskirts of town who keeps to himself. He has been seen watching high school teenagers, including the sheriff's daughter, Kimberly. The officers learn that teenage girls who prefer to take baths over showers live in all of the homes that were broken into. Kenny talks with Kimberly and learns that Frank the Potato Man is the least of her worries when it comes to sexual harassment, and Maxine arrests Frank after she learns he had been tried for rape before he moved to Rome. Though the district attorney adamantly feels that there is no evidence with which to charge Frank, the case is still brought to court and Douglas Wambaugh acts as Frank's defense attorney. Maxine thinks Wambuagh has taken the case to further his campaign for mayor, but soon learns that he has deeper motives. Meanwhile, Sheriff Brock investigates a farmer's complaint that his neighbor's still is causing his cows to become intoxicated, thus slowing down milk production. Also, Zachary participates in a career program at his school and spends a few days on the job with his father. Commercials deleted.
