PICKET FENCES: REBELS WITH CAUSES (TV)
Summary
One in this series of off-beat dramas that often focuses on social issues as it chronicles the lives of Rome, Wisconsin, residents, including town Sheriff Jimmy Brock; his wife Dr. Jill Brock; their three children, Kimberly, Matthew, and Zachary; and his two deputies, Kenny Lacos and Maxine Stewart. In this episode, defense attorney Douglas Wambaugh prepares to go to the Supreme Court to overturn a ruling in a murder case. However, as he goes over his strategy with Kim, who is working as his assistant, he collapses. Jill believes that he had a slight coronary, but as a precaution she decides to take him to a hospital in Chicago. At Chicago Hope hospital, an arrogant doctor, Jeffrey Geiger, callously diagnoses Wambaugh with multiple sclerosis. His unfeeling attitude towards Wambaugh causes Jill to become extremely angry. Meanwhile in Rome, Kim and Kenny decide they are attracted to one another and wish to date. But Jimmy feels that Kenny is too old for his eighteen-year-old daughter and fires him. Nonetheless, Kenny arrives at the Brock home to take Kim out on a date. An argument ensues between Kenny and Jimmy, which leads Kim to realize that she and Kenny are not dating because they are attracted to one another, but because they both want to get back at Jimmy. Commercials deleted.
