JACKIE COLLINS' HOLLYWOOD WIVES: PART 3 (TV)

Summary

The final installment in this three-part miniseries, based on the popular 1983 novel by Jackie Collins, about the complicated lives of several Hollywood big shots, wannabes and has-beens. In this episode, everyone gathers for Elaine's glamorous party, though Neil first visits Gina to demand the blackmail tape of their affair. She complains that Oliver has already chosen an unknown, Angel, for the part of Nicki in "Final Reunion," but Neil points out that their "agreement" extended only to a screen test. He explodes with anger when she reveals that she has a second copy of the tape, but his fury quickly turns into passion. At the party, Randy eyes Marilee as Mrs. Liderman arrives and introduces Angel to Pamela, though Angel is stunned when Buddy arrives with the casting director. Deke lurks outside the party with his gun, and when Montana spots Buddy, she tells him that he has landed a screen test after all, much to his delight, and recommends that he sign with Sadie. Ross tells Karen about the photographer who captured their affair, and Oliver is deeply offended when Angel, whom he proudly introduces to Montana, declares that she has no interest in becoming a movie star. Karen brazenly kisses Ross on the dance floor, pointing out that Elaine already knows of the affair, but George pulls her away for a private talk and reveals that he was the one who hired the private detective. She finally confronts him about his affair with an underage co-star many years ago, and he sincerely apologizes for traumatizing her and vows to repair the relationship.

Buddy is forced to leave when Norma demands to be taken home, and Oliver makes a speech about "Final Reunion," informing the crowd that George has accepted the lead role, leaving Ross crushed. Karen reveals to Pamela that she is pregnant with Ross' child, and Oliver informs an increasingly drunk Montana that the still-absent Neil is likely off "rehearsing" with Gina – and indeed, Neil soon suffers a heart attack while in Gina's bed. Buddy escorts a heartbroken Montana home as Sadie privately celebrates Ross' disappointment, and when the party concludes, Ross is shocked when Elaine informs him that he, not she, will be the one to leave their home. In the morning, Buddy awakens after a night of intimate conversation with Montana, and she urges him to finally visit his long-estranged mother. As Buddy rushes off to his meeting with Sadie, Montana hears on the news that Neil has been hospitalized, and she ends up confiding in Marilee about their mutual lover's infidelity. Buddy lies to Sadie that he is unmarried, and she invites him over to her home later that evening, though also invites Ross for the same time. At the salon, Koko advises Angel to contact Buddy, and Angel informs Shelly that she does not believe her lies about her husband's unfaithfulness. Deke tracks down a certain Nita Carrolle, who protests that she was merely the "middleman" in his illegal adoption, and he shoots her dead after finally obtaining the name of his birth mother.

Ross tells Karen that his separation from Elaine is "strictly temporary," though she declares that she loves him and plans to have his child, hinting that her powerful father will react badly if Ross does not behave honorably. Elaine and Marilee converse about Ross and Neil's disappointing behavior, and Marilee assures her friend that she no longer needs her faithless husband. Ross arrives at Sadie's and realizes that she has tricked him, having invited him over only to gloat about his failure and show that she has imitated his former ad campaign for her "new star," Buddy. Ferdie then reveals that Neil has died, and everyone soon gathers for the funeral. Ross informs the private detective that he no longer cares if the pictures are published, and Oliver hints that Montana's career, including "Final Reunion," is in trouble now that Neil is gone. Montana ponders leaving L.A. for New York and advises Buddy to make amends with Angel and "get on with his life," which he does. Ross tries to win Elaine back, but she informs him that she is tired of "babying grownups" and has already packed her things.

Buddy finally visits his mother and asks her to stop contacting him, still furious that she used to "get her kicks with her own son," but she reveals that he is actually adopted, though she does not know the identity of his birth mother. Deke, having shaved and cut his hair, arrives at Sadie's home, though she and Ferdie mistake him for Buddy, as they are identical. Sadie is stunned to realize that he is her long-lost son, as she was told that "they" were stillborn, and when Angel interrupts the scene, an enraged Deke grabs her and shoots Ferdie dead. Ross, arriving for a meeting about Oliver's new picture, tries to fight Deke off and gets shot in the arm, and Deke prepares to kill his mother, declaring that she "should have loved him." Buddy rushes in and shoots him, stunned to learn that Sadie is his mother and Deke his long-lost twin brother, and Sadie hints that Ross himself is their father. At the hospital, Elaine kindly feigns a reunion with Ross for the sake of the cameras, though they soon go their separate ways. Buddy tells the press that his brother is in serious condition, and Sadie promises to explain everything to her son. Oliver takes advantage of the reporters' presence to promote his new picture, starring Gina and Ross, promising that it is "R-rated, but with taste." Commercials deleted.
