NAKED TRUTH, THE: BALD STAR IN HOT OIL FEST! (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about the personal and professional life of a spirited journalist and photographer, Nora Wilde, who works for a tabloid magazine called the Comet. In this episode, Nora worries about $2,500 that she pledged to build a well for the Latin American village where her sponsor child, Manuel, lives. In the meantime, Nora concocts a plan to acquire a scandalous photo of a celebrity for the Comet. Appearing later in a skimpy outfit, she boasts that she snuck into a party disguised as a stripper and took pictures of the celebrity wrestling nude in hot oil without his toupee. Her friend Nicky wants to sell the photo to another publication for $5,000 and split the cash. After receiving more mail from Manuel, whose letters chronicle the swift dehydration of the entire town, she agrees with Nicky. Opportunity knocks when Nora has a successful interview with a family publication that eschews celebrity-pandering. But Tom Hanks comes in with his fly open, and Nora becomes enthralled and pulls out her camera. Relegating herself back to the tabloid, Nora feels guilty once the hot oil photos appear in a rival magazine and wonders whether to tell her boss what she has done. But a document that Nora holds helps to sway her decision, and a final letter from Manuel indicates that his town's fate is sealed. Also includes an "ABC News Brief" with Barry Serafin. Includes commercials. This program is closed-captioned.
