GOLDEN GIRLS, THE: SOPHIA'S WEDDING {PART 1 OF 2} (TV)

Summary

Part one of two. One in this comedy series about four older women -- two widows, and a divorcée and her mother -- who share a home in Miami and help each other to cope with growing older and being single again. In this episode, Sophia travels back to Brooklyn for the funeral of her best friend, Esther Weinstock. Years ago she broke off all communication with Esther's husband Max because she thought he gambled away the profits from the pizza/knish business he shared with Sophia's husband Sal. She forgives Max, however, when he tells her that it was Sal who actually lost the business. Later, Dorothy is shocked to learn that Sophia and Max decide they are in love and plan to wed. She refuses to give her blessing to such a hasty decision, and Sophia decides to give up the idea if her daughter won't accept the union. When Dorothy sees just how much they love each other she reverses her decision, and the wedding takes place as planned. Rose's establishment of an unauthorized Elvis Presley fan club throws a comical wrench into the proceedings. Continues with T:41626. Commercials deleted.
