Summary
The final episode of this British series of legal dramas about eccentric, kind-hearted barrister, Horace Rumpole, who defends seemingly hopeless cases in London's main criminal court, the Old Bailey.
In this episode, Rumpole arrives at work in a foul mood, exacerbated by a recent painful trip to the dentist. Fed up with his profession, and suffering fools even less gladly than usual, Rumpole publicly berates Justice Oliphant while in court defending Mr. Tong, a religious fanatic on trial for killing his wife. Oliphant is already seething, but when Claude Erskine-Brown reports to the judge that he heard Rumpole advising his client during a recess, Oliphant reports Rumpole to the bar council and the barrister soon finds himself facing a disciplinary tribunal which will decide whether to disbar him. Worse yet, Mrs. Rumpole vows to help him through his time of need. Includes a cameo appearance by John Mortimer.
