Summary
One in this series of late-night talk/variety programs hosted by Johnny Carson. On this program, the guests include actor/comedian Jerry Seinfeld, actress Brooke Adams, and cowboy poets Rod McQuery and Colen Sweeten. In his opening monologue, Carson comments on the following topics, among others: bandleader Doc Severinsen's outfit; the water shortage and how it has affected restaurants in the area; a new video game called "Desert Storm"; how long the Grammy Award show lasted; the Grammy Award for Lifetime Achievement presented to Bob Dylan; the military's plan to use heavy metal music to disorient the Iraqi troops; a survey showing that more Americans own cats than dogs; Geraldo Rivera's plans to do a new show; and a recent tabloid story about country singer Willie Nelson. Next Carson shows some Christmas toys that were displayed at a toy fair in New York. Carson's first guest, Jerry Seinfeld, performs a stand-up comedy routine in which he jokes about receiving news in the mail about winning some prizes, how sweepstakes companies should send out envelopes with the truth printed on them, the idea of winning a silver medal at the upcoming Olympics, people's obsession with coffee, and coffee machines having names such as "Mr. Coffee." Seinfeld then joins Carson and chats about what the premise of his sitcom, "Seinfeld," is about; why it was necessary to take gym class in school; and living in California and staying healthy. The next guest, Brooke Adams, joins them and talks about waiting for three movies of hers to be released, what it is like doing mostly horror films (at this point, she gives a demonstration of her scream which she uses frequently in movies), living in Spain for many years, and being a housekeeper. Carson's last guests are Rod McQuery and Colen Sweeten who recite their favorite original cowboy poems. Includes commercials and promos.
