FASHION: MALE MODELS {ANDY WARHOL'S TV} (TV)
Summary
One in this series of talk/interview programs, loosely
adapted from Andy Warhol's Interview magazine. This
edition explores the growing industry of male fashion
modeling through interviews with models and
modeling-agency staff. The program begins as the
following models reflect on their careers: Michael
Holder, Annibal Llende, Russell Todd, David White,
Marcus Able, and Tony Sanchez. Zoli, president of the
Zoli Agency, also explains the highly competitive nature
of the business. Michael Taylor, model and author of
"Male Model," outlines some of the changes that have
occurred in the industry in past years; and models Joop
and Renauld White discuss the rude and discriminating
attitude that agencies, photographers, and others in the
industry sometimes take towards models. The program
continues with comments on the following subjects:
myths about models' limited intellectual abilities, poor
moral character, and glamorous lifestyle; some of the
motivations for becoming a male model; the exponential
growth of the industry; competition among male models;
and the role of agencies in arranging modelsÕ schedules,
organizing photo shoots, and promoting models. In
conclusion, the models discuss their social lives, the
professionalism necessary to be a model, and the
relative importance of age in the modeling business.
Cataloging of this program was made possible by the
Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, 1999.
