PRACTICE, THE: REASONABLE DOUBTS {SECOND SEASON PREMIERE} (TV)
Summary
The second season premiere in this series of dramas about the idealistic attorneys at a struggling Boston law practice. In this episode, Bobby falls in love with Victoria Keenan, a client charged with the murder of her married neighbor, Bob Adler. Keenan states that she shot him only after he tried to rape her, but the prosecution infers that the two were having an extramarital affair, and stresses the fact that the recording of her call to 911 sounds staged and cold. The prosecution also views the five shots she fired as indicative of murder, not self-defense. Bobby believes in Keenan's innocence, and insists on handling the case himself even though his romantic relationship with her could cloud his objectivity. Shortly before the trial is set to close, another of Keenan's neighbors, Mr. Walters, presents Bobby with a copy of a videotape showing Keenan kissing Adler and welcoming him into her apartment on the night of the murder. Keenan then admits to Bobby that she was indeed having an affair with Adler, but claims that Adler tried to rape her after he became enraged over her refusal to marry him. Even though a polygraph test shows that she is not guilty of murder, Bobby becomes increasingly doubtful of Keenan's innocence. At the last minute, Eugene must step in since Bobby discovers that he cannot deliver his closing arguments in good conscience. Includes commercials, promos and public service announcements.
