Summary
One in this series of cooking programs. On this edition, host David Rosengarten explores the importance of ice in food preparation. He begins by giving a brief survey of the history of the natural and artificial production of ice. Rosengarten then does the following things with ice: makes cubes with tonic water; uses it as a serving device; halts the cooking of vegetables with ice and preserves their color; keeps hamburgers from getting too dry; whips cream over a bowl of ice; makes a blueberry snow cone; demonstrates a manual ice-cream maker; makes a frozen apple granita dessert; and demonstrates how to make frozen drinks including a pina colada and a frozen peach bellini. The recipes for these frozen drinks are shown on the screen. Commercials deleted.
