DIAGNOSIS MURDER: MURDER IN THE FAMILY (TV)
Summary
One in this series of mystery programs about Dr. Mark Sloan, a physician at Community General Hospital who enjoys solving murder cases with the help of his son, Steve, a homicide detective. In this episode, Sloan's estranged daughter, Carol, leaves her abusive husband, Bruce, and returns home after an eight-year absence. When Bruce phones, begging her for help, she refuses, assuming that he is trying to trick her into returning to a bad relationship. The next morning the Sloans learn that Bruce was shot execution-style. At first, Steve investigates the matter, but his colleague, Detective Emma Lopez, replaces him because of his relationship to the victim. In the next few days, Sloan's house and Carol's apartment in North Dakota are ransacked, just like the motel room where Bruce was murdered, leading investigators to assume that the killers have not found what they want. Sloan's colleagues, Dr. Livingston and Dr. Travis, visit Bruce's employer to learn more about his death and discover that one employee has been affected by a chemical found in DDT, which also appears in Bruce's autopsy. Meanwhile, Steve is attacked by two men who are searching the Sloan household. While Carol visits a recovering Steve in the hospital, she is abducted by his assailants and must be rescued. Ultimately, unfolding events reveal illegal toxic waste dumping and a blackmail scheme gone sour. This program is closed-captioned. Commercials deleted.
