OUTER LIMITS, THE: THE BELLERO SHIELD (TV)
Summary
One in this science fiction anthology series. In this episode, brilliant scientist Richard Bellero has been rejected by his multi-millionaire father as the next president of the family company. The decision angers Judith, Richard's Lady Macbeth-like wife, and Mrs. Dame, Judith's forbidding and devotedly loyal housekeeper. Richard retreats to his lab experiments, which fortuitously bring about the appearance of an alien with a unique defense system -- a transparent and indestructible shield that encases the creature at will. Judith is sure that Richard's father would reconsider his choice of heir if she can make him witness the shield's effects and promote Richard as the inventor. Plotting with Mrs. Dame, Judith shoots the alien and takes his powers, then encases herself in the shield as a demonstration for her father-in-law. The plan goes awry when the shield won't retract and threatens to become Judith's tomb. Richard, his father, and Mrs. Dame work feverishly on a solution, resulting in a surprise twist -- along with mayhem, madness and murder. Commercials deleted.
