MARY HARTMAN, MARY HARTMAN {EPISODE 129} {MARY APPEARS ON "THE DAVID SUSSKIND SHOW"} (TV)
Summary
The first of two episodes on this tape. One in this satirical soap opera series about Mary Hartman, a housewife from Fernwood, Ohio. In this episode, Mary imagines herself living the perfect home life with an ideal family, but her reveries are brought to an abrupt halt when she is rushed to the studio for her appearance on "The David Susskind Show." During his interview of Mary as the typical American housewife, Susskind tries to get at the roots of her family problems, but Mary refuses to admit that she and Tom have broken up or that Heather is a difficult child. A short filmed report of a typical week in Mary's life leads her to a startling revelation about herself. Back in Fernwood, Merle sends Jimmy Joe to the movies so that he can have some time alone to seduce Loretta. Commercials deleted.
