ONCE AND AGAIN: UNFINISHED BUSINESS (TV)
Summary
One in this dramatic series about Rick Sammler and Lily Manning, two middle-aged parents who deal with the realities of divorce while they cope with raising their children and dating. The format of this series combines a traditional story line with revealing soliloquies by some of the main characters. In this episode, Lily faces a series of dilemmas while her father Phil is visiting her. Financial problems, caused primarily by her upcoming divorce, lead Lily to interview for an editorial job. However, the workplace has changed drastically since she was last employed. Lily eventually accepts a position she's less than thrilled about -- as an assistant to Christy Parker, a young woman running her own magazine. Meanwhile, Grace and Phil get into an automobile accident; Grace is unhurt, but Phil sustains some injuries. Phil asks Lily to discontinue her legal battles with Jake, since he fears that the family restaurant business could suffer as a result, and they get into a big argument. Late that night, when Lily looks in on Phil in order to reconcile, she discovers that he's had a very serious stroke. Phil suffers another stroke while recuperating in the hospital, and this time he must be put on life support. Phil's wife, Barbara, joins the family in making the difficult decision of whether or not to keep Phil alive using life support. Includes commercials, promos, and public service announcements.
