DINNER AT JULIA'S {SERIES PREMIERE} (TV)
Summary
The premiere in this cooking series, hosted by Julia Child, in which she shows goes to various locations to prepare food and drink for a gala dinner. This episode features guest chef Duglass Grech -- a.k.a. Duglass Duglass from Restaurant Duglass in Detroit -- and wine expert Zelma Long from the Simi Winery. The program begins in Washington state's Puget Sound where Child attempts to catch the next evening's main course, silver salmon from Alaska. Back in her kitchen, Child discusses how to properly treat a caught fish, including seasoning, before cooking it. Next, Child shows how to prepare her first course, carpaccio: a beef tartare made from raw beef tenderloin and served on bread with a mustard spread. Afterward, Child "unveils" her salmon, which has just finished cooking, showing how to remove the skin and make a sauce of cream and vegetable juices to pour over the salmon. Then, Grech shows Child how to make a chocolat sac de bonbons dessert: a small bag made of chocolate, then filled with white, chocolate, and mocha mousse, and topped with fresh raspberries. Finally, Long joins Child to show her what wines should be paired with which foods, selecting a chardonnay, zinfandel and gewurtzraminer. Afterward, dinner is served. Includes commercials. This program is closed-captioned.
