WINNIE THE POOH AND CHRISTMAS, TOO (TV)
Summary
In this animated special -- originally aired in 1991 -- Winnie the Pooh and his friends from the Hundred Acre Wood prepare for Christmas. The program begins with Christopher Robin writing down everyone's Christmas requests to Santa. Christopher Robin throws the finished letter into the wind so that it will be blown to the North Pole. By the next day, Piglet reminds Pooh that he didn't ask for a present for himself. Thus, Pooh and Piglet orchestrate a "swoop" to catch the letter before it makes it to Santa. After finding the lost missive, they bring it back to Rabbit, who's had his hands full by warding off bugs that feast on his carrots. Later, Pooh decides he wants a pot of honey for his present. Rabbit, Tigger, and Eeyore then make some edits to the list, with all being overly generous in suggesting gifts for each other. Afterward, Pooh and Piglet try to resend the letter but it blows right back to them. The two are worried that with Christmas the next day, none of their friends will get their desired gifts. Thus, Pooh and Piglet decide to make sure the gifts are delivered. Pooh disguises himself as Santa with Piglet as his reindeer. In a makeshift sleigh, they visit Tigger's house, dropping off his gift. Next, Pooh goes to Rabbit's home and then Eeyore's to drop off their present. Later, the three are upset to open cheap, home-made versions of the gifts they requested. They go to check out Santa and discover Pooh's deception when Piglet makes a slip. Thus, Pooh tries to make amends by hand-delivering the letter to the North Pole. The rest of the gang waits behind with great excitement. En route, the wind blows away Pooh's letter and he is forced to return empty-handed. Pooh comes back to his friends to apologize for failing, but they are just glad to see him. Finally, Christopher Robin arrives with presents from Santa for everyone, with Pooh declaring that friendship is the best gift of all. Includes commercials. This program is closed-captioned.
