TWILIGHT ZONE, THE: THE ODYSSEY OF FLIGHT 33 (TV)

Summary

One in this fantasy/science fiction anthology series hosted by Rod Serling. In this episode, the crew of Flight 33 begins to notice something strange about the plane's trajectory during a transatlantic trip from London to New York. "Do you feel that?" asks Captain Farver of his first officer. "We seem to be going much faster." Farver says that according to his console the plane is traveling more than ten times faster than it should be -- and is still accelerating. A stewardess comes into the cockpit to tell the pilot that the passengers are becoming confused and frightened. Through the public-address system Farver attempts to reassure the passengers, saying, "We just hit one lulu of a jet stream." In reality, however, the pilot is panicking. "We just broke the sound barrier!" flight engineer Purcell exclaims. Before the crew members can figure out what is happening, they suddenly find themselves flying over what appears to be the island of Manhattan. As they begin to descend, the island looks strangely underdeveloped, and dinosaurs are roaming free. Farver says that they have somehow managed to go back in time. Although everyone aboard Flight 33 is terrified, Farver believes that he knows a way to get the plane back to the present. Commercials deleted.
