SURVIVOR II: AUSTRALIAN OUTBACK: TRIAL BY FIRE (TV)
Summary
One in this "reality" show that incorporates elements and conventions of the game show and the documentary film in a serialized account of the exploits of sixteen men and women confined to an exotic locale.
This version of the program takes place in the Australian Outback. The contestants have been divided into two tribes, Ogakor and Kucha. The Ogakor team consists of Colby, Maralyn, Keith, Mitchell, Jerri, Kel, Amber, and Tina; the Kucha, of Michael (Mike), Alicia, Rodger, Elisabeth, Kimmi, Nick, Debb, and Jeff. On day sixteen in the Outback, some contestants react with dismay to the recent rain and explain why they hate it; Michael discusses the experience of being on "Survivor" and the ways in which it has changed him.
Jerri and Amber of Ogakor complain about their hunger while the better faring Kucha Tribe enjoys a hot meal. Alicia shares her thoughts about the coming "merger" -- the point at which the remaining members of the two tribes will combine. From then on, it's every woman and man for him/herself.
The Kucha tribe experiments with eating chicken feed, and Jerri of Ogakor decides to make fried green tomatoes. Her hasty attitude causes tension between her and Keith, and within the tribe at large. Later, the two tribes meet for a "Tribal Challenge"; each tribe picks a leader who must then guide his or her blindfolded tribe mates through a series of tasks. When the challenge is completed, the team that has finished first receives a prize.
Later, the Kucha tribe is devastated when Mike suffers a severe burn injury and has to be airlifted to a hospital. Members of both tribes reflect on the accident and the coming merger between the tribes.
A preview of scenes from the next episode is shown, along with a few words from Mike about the meaning of participating in this program. Commercials deleted.
