WILD BRAIN {WILDBRAIN.COM}: VARIOUS SHORTS
(INTERNET COLLECTION)
Summary
This tape offers several short animated films that were
originally broadcast on the Wildbrain.com web site.
Each film runs from two to four minutes, and content
varies in terms of genre and style. The first short,
"Great Big Cartoony Club Show," parodies the
opening-credits sequences of traditional half-hour
cartoon shows. In "Uncle Squirrelly" and "Groove
Monkey," the animals of the titles act like a psychopath
and a hip-hop DJ, respectively. "Philo, The World's
First TV" tells a variation on the "Frankenstein" story
with a television set in the role of the monster.
"Mantelope" introduces a "half antelope, half man" and
his dreams of being accepted. In "Anthropolis," a lusty
couple with human bodies and animal heads are
interrupted during an intimate moment by a crazy
raccoon. "Swingtown," "Glue," and "Romanov" are more
experimental animated pieces, while "SF on Spirituality"
illustrates a meandering philosophical monologue.
"Frank Tripper: The Perfect Weapon" concerns a cop who
goes undercover as a rock star while "Graveyard Picnic"
tells the tragic story of a doomed family's last meal.
"Kozik's Inferno" retells the tale of Dante's "Inferno"
from the perspective of legendary underground artist
Frank Kozik. In "Guilty as Sin," a cat blackmails an
adulterous couple. "Unnatural Acts" catalogues a series
of freaky sideshow acts. "Hansel and Gretel, Private
Eyes" and "Joe Paradise" both concern detectives. The
last clip, "Space is Dum," revolves around a tense
rap-music competition.
Cataloging of this program was made possible by Blake
Byrne.
