EVENING SHADE: FIRST HEROES {THIRD SEASON PREMIERE} (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series about Wood Newton, a former pro football star who returns to his rural hometown in Arkansas to coach the high school football team. In this episode, the third season premiere, the hundred-year-old Farmers Mercantile store once owned by Wood's father is set to be demolished. Even worse, it will be replaced by a car wash. Wood, Ponder, and Harlan lament the fact that today's big discount stores simply don't have the friendly ways that the old-time places did. Meanwhile, Herman rues the loss of his girlfriend Margaret to foreign car dealer Bobby. Also, the Newtons anxiously await the return of Taylor from his three months in Amsterdam. Ava quickly warns Wood, though, that Taylor has changed after his summer overseas. Already concerned over Molly's premature use of false eyelashes and Will's need for condoms to blow up, Taylor's makeover would appear to be the final straw for Wood. Ponder begins circulating a petition to save the store while Herman finds himself being challenged to a dance contest by Bobby for Margaret's affections. With the wrecking ball set to hit the Farmers Mercantile at 6 a.m., Wood chains himself to the store the previous night, trying to stop the demolition. Meanwhile, Harlan gives Herman dance lessons. Later, a cleaned-up Taylor visits his dad at the store. There, he reveals that he only changed back because Wood never asked him to do it. The two are soon joined by Ponder. At 10 p.m, Herman dances solo to "Do You Love Me" and wins the dance contest. In the morning, Wood and Ponder reminisce about Wood's father and his legacy. Everyone then decides to head home -- just before the wrecking ball hits. Commercials deleted.
