ROWAN AND MARTIN'S LAUGH-IN {JEAN STAPLETON} (TV)
Summary
One in this series of frenetically-paced comedy programs hosted by Dan Rowan and Dick Martin. This episode features cameo appearances by Bill Bixby and Henny Youngman; the latter pops up periodically to drop some of his trademark one-liners, such as, "My wife is such a dear -- I wish it was hunting season!" Guest star Jean Stapleton appears in a number of skits, including a musical parody number that pokes fun at clumsy dancers. Other recurring gags include a series of segments about a pair of lost, hungry jungle explorers and a number of appearances by a duo of joggers who can't stop jogging, even when they're using the bathroom and entering a car. During the Laugh-In News segment, Rowan reads an item from the "News From the Future": "Forty years from now," he says, "Ralph Nader sat with some friends and recalled the good old days. Get it? Recalled the good ol' days?!" The final skit concerns a faux record club that hawks such titles as "Music to Punch Puppies By" and "Israeli Army Marching Songs." The program ends with the usual barrage of jokes and puns. Commercials deleted.
