QUEER AS FOLK {U.S. VERSION}: DADDY DEAREST (SONNY BOY) (TV)
Summary
One in this series about the day-to-day lives of a circle of gay and lesbian friends living in Pittsburgh.
In this episode, Emmett's cybersex fantasies come to a standstill when his cyber-partner, "Usemyhole27," wants to meet in real life. Emmett is afraid of being rejected if "Usemyhole27" discovers that Emmett is nothing like the descriptive profile that goes with his screen name. After being goaded by Brian, Michael confronts his boyfriend David about why he hasn't met any of David's friends. Michael's interest inspires David to throw a dinner party; suddenly, Michael is panicking over how to behave in the company of David's upper-crust colleagues. Michael's buddies give him a lesson in dinner party etiquette; nevertheless, he attends the party full of anxiety that he won't measure up.
Meanwhile, Lindsay and Melanie rush to the hospital after Gus gets sick. Upon their arrival, the nurse informs them that only parents and legal guardians are allowed inside. This leaves Melanie -- who has not legally adopted Gus -- alone and worried in the waiting room. Later, Lindsay and Melanie ask Brian to give up his rights as Gus's father so Melanie can proceed with an adoption. Against Justin's advice, Brian agrees. Elsewhere, Emmett thinks he's lost his mind after the true likeness of his screen name profile appears to him, offering to assist in helping Emmett reach his sexual aspirations.
At David's dinner party, things are less than perfect; Michael has nothing in common with David's friends, and ends up offending one of them with a trivial comment. David assures him that everything is fine, but Michael goes home. After spending the evening drinking with his emotionally detached father, Brian shows up drunk at Michael's house. There, Brian rethinks his decision to give up parental rights to Gus.
With the help of his profile likeness, Emmett meets with "Usemyhole27" -- and they have a thrilling time together. After the botched dinner party, Michael is prepared to forget his relationship with David -- but David has other plans. This program is closed-captioned.
