DREAM ON: THE BOOK, THE THIEF, HER BOSS & HIS LOVER (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series about a publishing company employee named Martin Tupper whose thoughts become animated through black-and-white clips of old television shows. In this episode, Toby's mom tries to talk her daughter into getting a more prestigious job. That day, Ina Dreikoff, the beautiful widow of famed author Theodore Dreikoff, shows up at Martin's office with an unpublished manuscript written by her late husband. Ina further reveals that it isn't a typical Dreikoff book; this one was written as a love letter to her. Martin is thrilled after reading a few pages of the steamy book -- that is until Ina claims that it can't be released with her husband's name on it. Ina also tells Martin that he can't tell anyone about the deal; it has to be their little secret. However, Toby overhears the conversation and immediately tries to convince Martin that "Toby Pedalbee" should be credited as the book's writer, lest she blackmail him. Immediately, Toby is receiving plaudits for writing "The Milk Maid" from Gibby and the world at large, upsetting Martin greatly. However, Martin has other things on his mind when he visits the Dreikoffs' home and begins a bizarre, Theodore-inspired romance with Ina. Eventually, Toby's hubris over being a "best-selling author" reaches gigantic proportions -- that is, until Gibby asks her to write a sequel. Ultimately, Ina arrives at Martin's office, revealing the secret to Gibby and setting off a new set of complications.
