CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM: THE SPECIAL SECTION (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series in which producer/comedian Larry David plays a slightly exaggerated version of himself who often ends up embroiled in misunderstandings and social faux pas. In this episode, Larry gets a bit part in a Martin Scorsese film shooting in Manhattan. Upon his return to Los Angeles, he learns that his mother has died during his trip and that his father didn't call to tell him because he didn't want to "bother" him. After the initial shock, Larry uses the death as a default excuse to get him out of the consistently undesirable and sticky situations in his life. Also, Larry gives Richard Lewis a meditation mantra, illicitly tries to get his mother into the "special section" at the Jewish cemetery, and gets himself in trouble by accidentally using some movie prop money.
