BOSTON LEGAL: IT GIRLS AND BEYOND (TV)

Summary

One in this darkly comic series focusing on a firm of brilliant but emotionally challenged attorneys in Boston.

In this episode, Brad tries to opt out of a high-profile case involving a lesbian, Tracey, being sued for having a relationship with her boss in order to steal clients. Brad worries about his attraction to Tracey, who is accused of having faked her lesbianism for financial gain.

Meanwhile, the staff attempts to deal with Alan's new assistant Catherine, an outspoken older woman. Denny tries to "fly solo" in defending a doctor being sued for prescribing a non-FDA-approved drug. Shirley is worried, however, and asks Alan to second-chair for Denny. Eventually, Brad begins having his own doubts that Tracy is a lesbian as his attraction to her increases.

During their own trial, Denny and Alan's differing styles create a successful defensive strategy. However, Alan and others continue to wonder if the aging -- and at risk for Alzheimer's -- Denny is still a competent attorney. Slowly, Lori begins realizing that Brad is falling in love with Tracey and that it may affect the case. Ultimately, Denny's impassioned, personalized pleas lead to a victory, while Brad helps Tracey win her case.

Afterward, over dinner, Brad reveals to Tracey that he had hired a private investigator to tail her -- at which point he learned that he had been deceived, but not in the way he had expected. Commercials deleted.
